India: No Need to Re-Engineer the Machine

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Society-should-introspect-President-on-rising-rape-cases/articleshow/19723071.cms

This is a hot topic in India right now. But its ultimately a dog chasing its tail. Yes, a horrible thing happened. NO, there is no magic law or formula you can design or implement in order to prevent it from happening ever again.

A child was raped. I want to puke. Then I want to hang the men responsible for it.

Will ten million new laws help? No. Will a "change of heart or religions" help? No. Although adherence to morality via religion may very well help somewhat.

We have murder and arson and other awful crimes. Those continue to happen despite our laws. What can you do?

Nothing. Human nature creates some awful things. You cannot eliminate greed and power and jealousy and lust. You don't look the other way; you punish the offenders of wicked crimes. And you ensure STRONG, NUCLEAR FAMILIES exist and that people know those in their community.

That's about all you can do. What else is there? Most laws beyond those that punish crimes equate to a reduction in civil, independent rights and that ALWAYS leads to tyranny. NO. NOT ACCEPTABLE. That WILL at some point result in people being put in jail BASED ON SUSPICION ALONE.

Is that the kind of world you think is JUST?

ITS NOT.

AND ITS A SLIPPERY SLOPE TOWARDS MORE TYRANNY.

Don't think so? Look at Nazi Germany. Look at Russia. Look at ethnic cleansing in the slavic states. Look at Africa. Look at slavery times in the USA.

YOU HAVE FREEDOM OR YOU HAVE NOTHING. Period, end of story.
